Welcome to St John’s School, Silkwood – a co-educational primary school in the Diocese of Cairns. As a small Catholic school, St John’s offers a faith and values based education which focuses on the well-being of each individual child. This focus is achieved through explicit teaching of social emotional learning in a caring and supportive environment. Our school values its community-oriented approach to student wellbeing and family life.
Our Values

Principal's Message
A very warm welcome to the St John’s, Silkwood community! St John’s prides itself on the culture and traditions built over the years at the school. The school’s proud history began in 1948 when the school was by founded by Parish Priest Fr Alfred Natali and the Missionary Franciscan Sisters. We are a very welcoming community that believes that working together to achieve a common goal brings success for all. Our staff, students and parents remain focused on our sense of being a ‘learning community’ and are proud of their great achievements over the years.

Last Friday night our St John's students and families came together to Celebrate Father's Day and show off our line dancing skills. There were cowboy hats and boots aplenty for our line dancing, an amazing dinner and a Father's Day song, cake and gifts to finish off. What a wonderful evening!! Keep an eye out for more photos in the coming days.
